Lack of Time isn't the Reason You're Struggling to Make Money in Your Business
Jan 20, 2020Lack of time is not the reason you are struggling to make money in your business.
Now look, I understand why you think it might be. It seems so logical that if you had more time, you'd have more time to make money, but I swear to you it's not the case. In fact, if you look at amazing entrepreneurs like Tim Ferris, James Wedmore & Michael Hyatt, they're all singing from the same songbook. They're all telling us to achieve more by doing less. So what is this secret that these amazing entrepreneurs have got that you and I don't know.
Well, I'm here to tell you that the one thing they have got is focus. They have got laser focus on what they want to achieve and they work on what matters. Now, thinking that you need more time to achieve more in your business is going to keep you broke. It's going to keep you stuck.
But what I'm going to do is I'm going to share with you today the five steps you can take every single week to plan out your week with laser focus so that you do what makes a difference in your business rather than being super, super busy and getting to the end of the week and thinking, if only I had more time. Okay, let's dive in.
Number one, I want you to unload everything that's going on in your brain onto paper. A massive brain dump, okay, and don't filter it. Everything that's going through your mind, getting the kids prescription, booking the dog into the vet, doing the grocery shopping, setting up the lead magnet, editing your website. I don't care what it is, if it's going around your brain as a to do, get it onto paper.
Second thing is you're now going to segment this list and I love to do this with coloured pens. I literally grab two different colour pens and I put a circle around the personal items and I put another coloured circle around the business items. That's it. Super simple.
Step three is you're going to prioritise. Now I'm going to be completely honest with you here. This is the part that takes the most practice. You're going to have potentially a long old list of things for your business that you want to be working on and it's your job as the CEO, as the lead entrepreneur in your business to work out what the priority task is. Now, the priority task is what's going to make a difference in your business and if the one thing you're really struggling with is making money in your business, what one of those tasks is actually going to bring you in some cash? And FYI, it's not tweaking the colour of your website, so go through and work out what is the priority tasks that you need to work on that following week.
The forth step you need to take is to schedule it in.
Now, if you've chosen maybe two or three different priorities for that week, make sure you've actually got the availability in your calendar to work on them. Schedule them in so that they get done. This is a time where you can literally just take out your phone, go into your calendar and put those activities in and then you know you're going to get them done.
Step five, you need to take action my lovely. This is where you need to step up to the bar of being the amazing entrepreneur that I know you are. You have got to commit to doing this work because I'm telling you, I used to work 70 hour weeks and I was no more successful. I was just really, really tired. Now I work anywhere between 20 and 25 hours a week and I have more money, more time, more freedom. Everything is better now that I am working less because I work on what matters.
So use this process and let me know how you get on. And one little tip I want to give you is when you're using this process, set a specific time in the week that you're going to do it.
Do not do this on Monday morning when you go into the office, do it maybe on a Sunday evening, that's when I do mine. Do it on a Sunday evening or on a Friday afternoon when you finish work. So you go into work on that Monday morning or whenever your week starts, knowing exactly what you're going to be working on so you can hit the ground running and not spend time procrastinating and faffing about on stuff that is not actually making a difference in your business.
Let me know how you get on. Keep doing this for a few weeks. I always love to hear your feedback on this because this has been in my business & I've been using this personally for well over two years and my clients love it. So when you try it, let me know how you get on.
